Part of creating a great movie is creating a setting, complete with buildings, trees, and- of course- the cars to fit the characters. Here’s a list of the classic muscle car cameos in our favorite films, sometimes so well-fit to a scene that we don’t even recognize them in the moment.
Goldfinger – 1963 Aston Martin DB5
Seen also in GoldenEye and Thunderball, the DB5 is easily the most iconic Bond vehicle. It’s not just a factory version, either- the car was modified for the movies, with gun barrels hidden behind the indicators and a bullet proof rear-window.
Mad Max – 1973 Ford XB Falcon
Mad Max is a movie loaded with action and memorable cars, but we can all agree that the most iconic is Max’s own ride. Dubbed the ‘Pursuit Special’, it’s tricked out with guns and style. The XB Falcon itself was only released in Australia as a muscle car for rougher terrain.
The Fast & The Furious – 1970 Dodge Charger R/T
Though released in 2001, The Fast & The Furious featured one of the most classic and beloved cars in history. Dominic Toretto, played by Vin Diesel, obviously knows his cars, and this customized classic muscle car is at home in a film full of car chases and crashes.
These are all casting decisions we can really get behind. What movie cars have left you breathless and pining for a new addition to your garage?
